Polymyositis (PM), dermatomyositis (DM), and inclusion body myositis (IBM) are the major members of a group of skeletal muscle diseases called the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Clinical features, characteristic muscle biopsy findings, immune markers, and histopathologic findings differentiate these illnesses.
